Audience Member I'd give this documentary 100 stars if I could. I first watched it a week ago at a Yarn Up, a night organised by the Indigenous kids at my daughter's school. I was so moved by it that I immediately ordered a copy for myself. Bob Randall, a Pitjantjara man from the country that surrounds Uluru, tells of the history of his people, from their perspective. It is enlightening and joyous and at the same time, heartbreaking.Melanie Hogan has done an excellent job in directing and editing this film. The Yarn Up that we attended is being piloted in 15 schools in NSW at present. Should the program be successful, it will be rolled out throughout the state and country. Please check out the website, www.yarnup.com.au , and the website for the film, www.kanyini.com to support these two incredible steps towards a new Australia. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This is about the Stolen Generation. I completely agree what the Australian Government did to these people was atrocious and that the apology took far too long to happen. In saying that this sort of bored the crap out of me. It's basically one of the Stolen Generation telling a story and although that is what's happening it's also an old guy rambling on for an hour. It might seem a bit harsh and perhaps a lot of people wouldn't comment on this but seriously that's what it is. Don't get me wrong, I learnt something from it and I think it's an important doco to watch not only because he is sharing his story but he has some good points but by the end of it I just wanted to go to bed. I'm not too sure if it was his delivery or something else but I found it so hard to focus. So if you can handle listening to an old fella for an hour watch this but if you're like me and can't focus that long perhaps having it on anyway will do you some good and maybe you'll pick it up subconsciously. Here's hoping. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Loved it and this is another story that needs to be told to the world. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member strong images of the drastic conditions under which the australian indigenous people have to live. rob randall is offering a little bit of insight into the agony of the aboriginal people who have to live in this modern society after loosing their most important values. "kanyini" is the concept of "being connected to one's land, language, culture and kin". Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
