Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express There's really no steady progression, just staccato sequences where Karthik [Farhan Akhtar] and Shonali [Deepika Padukone] go from happy to fractious within nanoseconds. Rated: 1.5 Apr 16, 2019 Full Review Anil Sinanan Time Out Akhtar's little-boy-lost vulnerable charm holds it all together. Rated: 3/5 Nov 14, 2016 Full Review Derek Elley Variety This romantic mystery-drama -- centered on an office nerd whose life is transformed by a series of phone calls from, uh, himself -- is thinly plotted, but surfs on the likable chemistry between Akhtar and co-lead Deepika Padukone. Mar 9, 2010 Full Review Manjusha Radhakrishnan Gulf News (UAE) The feat of winding a love-story around a mysterious telephone call for more than two hours is no easy task, but the debutante director Ritesh Sidhwani manages to engage. Feb 28, 2020 Full Review Nikhat Kazmi The Times of India Rock On, Luck By Chance and now Karthik Calling Karthik... seriously guys, Farhan Akhtar is turning out to be a revelation as an actor. Anurag D Indian version, but NOT COPY, of Fight Club Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/14/23 Full Review arun s An interesting concept ruined partially by lack of clarity and slow pacing. Wonderful acting from Farhan and Deepika. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A good underrated thriller movie that is not for everyone. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A fresh and welcomed idea in India's cinema. Movie was unpredictable to the very end. Combination of comedy, drama and a profile of mental sickness. The movie however suffers from typical Bollywood cheesy and shallow Bollywood audience are and the length at which directors cater to that Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Except for few weak screenplay by parts , the movie stands out for its story line and keeping up the suspense till the climax. Farhan Akhtar had given a simple yet notable performance.Nail biting thriller portrayed effectively Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member After an excruciatingly painful first half of 60 minutes, which could have been shorter or craftier, the film really kicks in. KCK is the story of Karthik (duh), a timid man, bullied around by everyone who gets much needed help by therapeutic phone calls from himself. As bizarre it may seem to be getting calls from himself, which have no existence on his phone records, he decides to go with the flow and trust the caller. His life turns around in a few weeks. But all good things come at a price, and when he accidentally lets slip the secret of his success, everything starts unraveling. It's up to his girlfriend and his psychiatrist to figure out who is this mystery caller and is Karthik all right in his head. The execution of the second half of the movie is pretty good. If only the same effort and class was applied to the first half which is full of clichés, lame songs and over the top acting by both Farhan Akthar and Deepika Padukone.
