Audience Member Kasal is a drama and romance film set in Cebu with characters portraying Cebuano characters so some script lines are acted in Bisaya dialect. The film actually focuses on romance complicated with a lot of issues which is also the problem of the film. There is too much complication in this film like politics, family issues and infidelity are just some that I felt it was too much to handle if the characters are living in it in real-life. It would have been better if there are only 1 or 2 issues that complicated the relationship of lead characters. This many issues resulted to a long two-and-a-half-hour movie. The acting of the leads was superb and notable but I really don't like the bad character of Wado Dela Costa played by Derek Ramsey who goes on extreme lengths just win back his lost love. Paulo Avelino and Bea Alonzo proved their acting prowess here in Kasal. But overall, even the film was long, it was bearable to watch and it has a nice story about commitment. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Nothing exciting about this romance tale. But sweet and funny enough that fans of the genre may like it. Video review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ex-SSckSlI&t=168s Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member SPOILERS ALERT. This movie failed to address sexual assault. The reason why this movie got a full star is because Filipino movies are broadening LGBTQIAA+ aspects into their movies. Lia was the least pitiful character in the movie. She tells Phillip that he doesnt understand pain. In reality, Phillip has gone through sexual harassment and assault, berated by his parents, and forced to go into a career. He truly understands pain, but he doesn't let it affect him like Lia does. Phillip is the strongest man in the movie as well as the most likeable. Lia's ex-boyfriend, Wado, is a gross dude. He was the one who sexually assaulted Phillip in the shower. The director and producer failed at showing the justice of this movie because Wado committed a CRIME. He walked away free in the end. This movie reveals that if a bisexual man is assaulted, then it's not a big deal. ITS A CRIME. IT DOESNT MATTER IF WADO HAD REASONS TO GET HIS EX GIRLFRIEND BACK, ITS. STILL. A. CRIME. This is the reason why the LGBTQIAA+ community is still scared of revealing their identity because people like Wado induce fear into their hearts and to society, and can still walk away free. Truly disappointed in this movie. The whole moral of the story was not only to be accepted by the one you love, but be accepted by all. They emphasized so much about the family aspect of it, but they showed that the homophobic man who sexually assaulted Phillip can go free without any consequence. Wado didn't go to jail when he clearly should've been punished. Seriously. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
