Kimber Myers Los Angeles Times "Keep the Change" isn't a film for cynics, but romantics will find plenty to warm their hearts here. Apr 19, 2018 Full Review Kerry Lengel Arizona Republic This gently humorous, fiercely honest indie film is a step forward in the quest for a move inclusive Hollywood, which seems to one of the themes of the cultural moment. Rated: 4/5 Apr 5, 2018 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Keep the Change may be a breakthrough in its focus on real people with intellectual disabilities, but it's especially commendable for providing positive examples of how the nondisabled can create inclusive environments for all. Mar 29, 2018 Full Review David Lamble Bay Area Reporter A sensitive but realistic portrait of a man and a woman dating along the autism spectrum in today's overpriced and socially challenging NYC. Jun 2, 2020 Full Review Brigid Presecky FF2 Media A heartwarming, compassionate story with compelling performances elevating the already-fresh and funny material. John M Well crafted and interesting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/19/24 Full Review Audience Member It's a delicate balance to make a comedy about the disabled community without being overly cautious or insensitive. Keep the Change is a marvel in this way, never ignoring its character's realities, yet staying beautifully relatable to anyone dealing with insecurity or identity. David & Sarah are endlessly lovable & compelling, & they carry the film with grace & humor. It mostly doesn't force emotions; when it does, the obvious moments of ableism are a bit obnoxious, but the subtle ableism is pointed. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Sheldon O This film was done so well and realistically, utilizing many supporting characters who are on the autistic spectrum, that it almost seemed to be a documentary. The acting by the two main characters was consistently superb and believable. This film should be seen by the general population to obtain a better understanding of the challenges facing people on the spectrum and the need to understand and treat them with respect and dignity. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/23/21 Full Review Audience Member Simply beautiful, very compassionate film with a refreshing perspective. I'm so... almost proud of humanity for finally getting to the point where we can create things like this, include, cherish, and promote people of all abilities. I'm so happy this film was made. Thank You! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Although the synopsis doesn't mention it, this is a movie about two adults with autism who meet at a Jewish Community Center Social Skills group. David, the main character comes across at first as very annoying and the jokes he constantly told were a little offensive to the point where I turned it off. But I'm glad I gave it another chance and watched it all the way to the end. It was interesting to see the romantic relationship between David and Sarah grow, despite the reservations of his parents (who were absolutely horrible in the way they treated him-especially his mother). I could have done without the almost-graphic sex scene but I'm glad they cut it short before it became too much. This is a sweet movie overall and the ending was really nice. As a person who worked with people who have autism for over twenty years, this movie really gave me a new perspective. I found it interesting that almost the entire cast was autistic as well. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member The inherent dignity of all humans plays out at a JCC program for Ausbergers spectrum 20 somethings. Never misses a beat.
