In the film's gory patriarchal world, heroism can singularly be equated to machoism. Women are important only as love interests or mothers, that is, only in their connection with the central male lead.

A larger-than-life, highly enjoyable rags to riches, urchin to overlord movie. The dialogue is cutting and immensely funny, the action is out of this world, and the emotional storyline is very moving. Kash plays Rocky brilliantly, and Sanjay Dutt is an amazing nemesis. The movie seems like a modern-day myth, or a lost city of El Dorado and its untold riches. Brilliant and definitely worth sitting through the epic 5-hour story.

The film has a few things working for it, such as Yash's lead performance & consistently stunning visuals, but these are easily overshadowed by unrealistic & shoddy writing, general overtreatment and an overreliance on the background score.
