David F In our current political climate, It was really amazing to see someone with such honest intentions run for office. "Kid Candidate" was heartfelt, honest, interesting, and above all inspirational. It's difficult to avoid a certain amount of dryness when approaching a subject like local elections, but Stodel did a good job keeping the mood light and entertaining. I hope to see more from her in the future. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Glenn Whipp Los Angeles Times "Kid Candidate" isn't about winning as much as a reinforcement of the notion that apathy is the death of democracy, a lesson best learned, as Pedigo comes to understand, when you're young. Jul 1, 2021 Full Review Wes Greene Slant Magazine The film doesn't leave us with a complex sense of Hayden Pedigo as a person and political candidate trying to take on an unjust system. Rated: 2/4 Jun 29, 2021 Full Review Abby Olcese RogerEbert.com Both an endearing character study of Pedigo and a well-informed examination of municipal politics. Mar 20, 2021 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix [This documentary] takes a fascinating look at how a musician in his mid-20s launched an unorthodox political campaign to become a city council member in Amarillo, Texas. What started as a joke turned into an experience that changed people's lives. Jul 15, 2021 Full Review Diane Pershing Malibu Times I can't say this is more than an excellent example of potentially professional filmmakers who haven't gotten there yet. Kind of like Hayden himself, a David facing a whole bunch of Goliaths. Jul 6, 2021 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue ... smartly avoids self-promotion in favor of a modest call-to-action.
