Synopsis
Documentary filmmaker Daniel Geller examines the controversial work of Tim Rollins, a teacher in the Bronx who tries to reach troubled students with literature and art. In Rollins' "Kids of Survival" program, students are asked to read classic novels and then create murals based on the books. While some critics say the program does not prepare the children for the real world, many of his students disagree, saying that they learn the importance of courage and discipline while in the program.
