Killing Faith wants to be unique. It wants to have a genre sandwich, but instead of the layers of genre fixings piled into a neat package, they spill out in odd ways and the whole thing falls apart.

Not the first Southern Gothic/Western fusion by a long shot, but a strong contender for the best to date. Acting, cast, cinematography, characters and story are all outstanding. I'm surprised this hasn't garnered stronger praise - perhaps it was more marketed as a horror film and proved a bit too cerebral for general audiences? There's a lot to unpack on a single viewing, and some subtleties and implications in the plot probably benefit from a rewatch. One of the stronger films released in 2025 anyhow.
