Sumiko Mizukubo is a beautiful lady and a decent actress. See more 09/10/2012 One of Mikio Naruse's earliest works surviving, ï 1/2¢å>とå¥ã,てï 1/2£ is a heartbreaker. The 'business' of Geishas were becoming much less acceptable as a form of work, and the story centers around an aging geisha, her teenage son, and another younger geisha who falls in love with the son. Naruse also seems to have a thing for injury by moving vehicle, whether it be a train, a car, or a bicycle. This one (a little spoiler) doesn't have one, but there is one exceptionally devastating scene towards the end. And the final frame of the film followed by the title is one of the most masterful moments I've seen in any movie. A perfect marriage of final frame and title. See more Read all reviews
