Budd Wilkins Slant Magazine Bittersweet satire posing as postapocalyptic science fiction, Georgiy Daneliya’s Kin-dza-dza! has as much to say about today as it does the last gasps of the Soviet Union. Jun 12, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Vladislav B Ku! A gritty, subtle, hilarious and weird social commentary sci fi comedy about two guys who accidentally are transported to an alien desert planet. They befriend some local musicians and seek a way back to earth while getting to know the local culture and places. Became a classic quickly. It contagiously adds it's invented words to your vocabulary. Which it did throughout the Soviet Union after release. Slower and longer than modern films. Better if you understand Russian of course. There is an anime remake also, which came out in 2013, which is shorter. As many slower films are, it gets better once you are deep in to the first half. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review g j I think it loses something in translation. I found it weird, mostly annoying and a bit of a slog to get through... its certainly unique though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Jesse M Hilariously bizarre. There's nothing quite like this Kin Dza Dza!. One of the most memorable and funny films I've ever seen.
