Armed with a clear vision and a brazen 78-page plan, Richard Williams is determined to write his daughters, Venus and Serena, into history. Training on Compton, California's neglected tennis courts--rain or shine--the girls are shaped by their father's unyielding commitment and their mother's balanced perspective and keen intuition, defying the seemingly insurmountable odds and prevailing expectations laid before them. David Stratton The Australian Brandi is a more interesting character, thanks to a superb performance from Ellis, and their scenes together are the best in the movie, although the tennis sequences are very well shot and edited. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 19, 2022 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald Smith is entertaining. His single-mindedness should make him a bore but he somehow retains his talent to amuse whatever else is on his mind. Rated: 4/5 Jan 13, 2022 Full Review Mara Reinstein Us Weekly Featuring a towering performance from Will Smith in the title role, proving that a hero is not necessarily easy to root for. Dec 28, 2021 Full Review Joshua Polanski Boston Hassle King Richard suffers from ... a conflict of interest. Jul 18, 2024 Full Review Paul Emmanuel Enicola The Movie Buff Anchored by Will Smith’s towering performance, “King Richard” overcomes its sanitized characterization of an exacting man to present a closer look into tough-love parenting. The result, all puns intended, is a grand slam. Rated: B+ Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Sarah Vincent Sarah G Vincent Views “King Richard” does something not often shown in media, but focuses on the psychological abuse of young, affluent teenage girls and how it leads to a negative self-image. Bill Great story & acting Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/22 Full Review WILLIAM H There must have been a lot of footage on the cutting floor. This was choppy, and you asked too many questions at the end. Not about "King Richard", but about all of the other family members. And who were his advisors for financial and legal matters? Did he get insights from newsstand magazines about writing contracts? Lastly, there really aren't any poignant moments that Will Smith carried. I think he comes across as a bully. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/22 Full Review Danny J Superbly Done, Very Moving an inspiration for Everyone see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/23/22 Full Review Sharon Great story and acting Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/22 Full Review John A wonderful performance by Will Smith - for me the best I've seen from him to date. This was one of the few times (with the possible exception of Pursuit of Happyness?) that I felt I was watching a character study and not the incorporation of a storyline into the typically smart and witty Will Smith persona. Aunjanue Ellis was also amazing as Brandi Williams. Playing real people (especially those who are still alive) presents unique challenges. All the cast did an outstanding job and made this an exceptional film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/16/22 Full Review Peggy Movie is Inspirational. I hope more go and see this movie. This is a Must-See movie! I enjoyed this movie from Start to Finish! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/14/22 Full Review Read all reviews
