What to Know

Critics Consensus

Carving out a new era for The Planet of the Apes with lovable characters and rich visuals, Kingdom doesn't take the crown as best of the franchise but handily justifies its continued reign.

Audience Says

If the plot loses a little momentum after a strong opening, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes still delivers stunning visuals, compelling performances, and proves to be a solid entry in the Apes cannon.

Christina Newland iNews.co.uk Kingdom... is more than a big-budget epic: it explores dilemmas that haunt our real world and has so much empathy for its characters you wonder if it wants us to root for the apes, rather than the humans. Rated: 4/5 Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Matt Goldberg TheWrap Ball’s movie — intended as the start of a new story arc featuring new characters — is the typical bloated and bland franchise fodder that can only come out of a Hollywood that relishes IP as far as its name and no further. Aug 8, 2024 Full Review Sergio Burstein Los Angeles Times Kingdom is the episode of the series that we didn't know we needed, distinguished by a powerfully set scene, more than decent level acting and a narrative proposal worth appreciating. [Full review in Spanish] May 25, 2024 Full Review Jared Mobarak Hey, Have You Seen ...? This is the true circle of life wherein oppressed rebels inevitably become domineering oppressors ... and back again. Because while cognition does breed empathy, fear-driven self-preservation always seems to win out. Rated: 8/10 Jan 24, 2025 Full Review Kip Mooney College Movie Review You can’t help but get caught up in the story. It’s so filled with genuine emotion and moral quanadries and sweeping action that you forget these are just CGI apes. Rated: B+ Nov 18, 2024 Full Review Vera Wylde Council of Geeks This entire revived Apes series has been really good, and this is a really worthy entry. Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

CookieMan I remember it being a fun time at the movies, but forgot about it almost immediately. Plot and characters were very thin. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Timmy M Out of the recent planet of the apes films this was my least favorite. I was expecting a better plot. The apes looked more cartoonie this time around than if you go back to the first film in this grouping. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/25 Full Review Meccassault Good film overall, but I think it's the weak link of the franchise. Without Caesar, it felt different and missing a vital piece, but it was still good and absolutely worth seeing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/25 Full Review Mike F A food and fitting continuation to the story that was so expertly told over the course of the previous “planet of the apes” trilogy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/23/24 Full Review Micah Rucker Solid movie. Not bad. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/19/24 Full Review Eduardo Sanchez Awesome film all around ! Can’t wait for what’s to come !
