Frank J. Avella Edge Media Network West proves in this film that she could inhabit a character that was a bit removed from her persona. It's a shame that side of her wouldn't ever be successfully explored. Her evangelical scenes are splendid. Rated: B Jun 30, 2021 Full Review Meyer Levin (Patterson Murphy) Esquire Magazine Bye bye Mae West...the gauds look cheap. The play is awfully slow. Apr 17, 2020 Full Review Ann Ross Maclean's Magazine [Mae West] has written her latest drama of sex and crime with one eye on her old loyal public and the other on the censors. It isn't likely that either group will be very enthusiastic about Klondike Annie. Heidi Annie, a low-down woman with high ideals, takes a brave journey both outside and inside. Peppered with her infamous one liners. A rare portrayal for the times of a smart, sexy, independent and unabashed woman. West created the story and wrote the screenplay. A pioneer for women in the film industry. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/29/23 Full Review Audience Member another gr8 vehicle for mae west Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Some consider this to be a post-code, watered-down West. Others call it her masterpiece. The truth is somewhere in the middle. While it lacks the (relatively) outrageous one-liners of She Done Him Wrong or I'm No Angel, it still gets away with plenty, and West's performance shows a range she'd previously kept hidden beneath the Diamond Lil persona. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie kind of bumbles along, one-liner to one-liner to unsatisfying ending. I'd like to see a remake that plays more into the psychological make-up of the characters. Maybe even with a real transformation for the harlot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Great performance from Mae, impersonating a missionary of all things!
