Set in 1947, "Knights of Swing" is a feature film that chronicles a group of young jazz musicians whose dream is to form a "really swingin' big band." Unfortunately, things prove much more complicated when the community objects to the diversity of the band. Alliances form, and lines are drawn. What follows is soul searching, uplifting, and through music, our story illuminates forgiveness, healing and unconditional love.

Clocking in at a runtime of 2 hours 30 minutes, Knights of Swing does feel like a story that would work better as a 3-episode long miniseries, but in its present state, it is still a pretty charming, albeit cheesy period piece.

That it’s a labor of love doesn’t inherently make it great, but the obvious commitment of everyone involved at least keeps it watchable. That said, if you aren’t being paid, you may find better uses of two and a half hours.

Knight’s of Swing is indeed a feel good movie. A heartfelt period piece that becomes a lesson in perseverance, taking us back to a time when things seemed a bit more simple, reflecting music’s ability to bring people together no matter the circumstances.
