Audience Member It's been a while since I saw Restrepo, but Junger's latest offering took me right back. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Kaikki oleellinen kerrottiin jo Restrepossa, mutta kyllä tämä silti tykitti kovaa. Ja jätkät on kameran edessä rehellisiä: mikä on parasta täällä: "No tulitaistelut. Mistään ei saa samanlaisia kiksejä." Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Strangely unengaging documentary. Korengal follows the lives of a company of US Army soldiers stationed at an outpost in Afghanistan in 2007-8. It is the sequel to Restrepo, which was nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar in 2011. Maybe it is because I haven't seen Restrepo (yet), but this documentary just doesn't work for me. It doesn't do much wrong - there is a good mix of interviews and live action footage and there is a degree of conclusiveness to it all. Yet I wasn't engaged. The whole thing just seemed to plod along and I didn't feel any real affinity towards the soldiers. There is also a large degree of gung-ho-ness and bravado, which is a bit off-putting. The movie doesn't feel balanced enough. Maybe that's the problem. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing movie the idea of showing war it supposed to be interest me Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member No nonsense, thought-provoking documentary about modern life on the front lines. What's most interesting in the majority view that they miss the combat life and would happily go back because of their bonds Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Somewhat more interesting then it's predecessor Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Louis Black Austin Chronicle Remarkably frank, Korengal espouses no one clear sentiment towards war. Rated: 3/5 Jul 7, 2014 Full Review Tom Keogh Seattle Times Most fascinating is the seemingly unanimous feeling that while deployment in Korengal was hard and heartbreaking, these veterans would do it all again just to stay together, to remain brothers who mutually understand something no on else will ever know. Rated: 3/4 Jul 3, 2014 Full Review Matthew Lickona San Diego Reader Not quite a coda to Sebastian Junger's and Tim Heatherington's...Restrepo - more of a commentary track, or a series of annotations. Rated: 2/5 Jun 27, 2014 Full Review David Bax Battleship Pretension There is plenty of frustration to be found in wishing Korengal differentiated itself from its antecedent. But depoliticized and empathetically honest documentaries about those who fight for their country are few and far between. Mar 4, 2021 Full Review Michael J. Casey Boulder Weekly Inside the hearts and minds of Restrepo. Aug 19, 2019 Full Review Bernard Boo Way Too Indie A documentary entirely made up of leftover footage from its predecessor, and yet it feels essential, a unique portrait of the wartime experience.
