Moswerty T @RT66537394 4d Kung Fu Soccer is very disappointing, especially compared to Stephen Chow’s golden-era work like Shaolin Soccer, which was funny, charming, and had such a distinct Hong Kong film identity. This new film feels more like a recycled formula, with stale jokes, a weak script, and action scenes that lack freshness, leaving very little of the original charm. The more I watch his films, the more I feel that Stephen Chow was much more creative and distinctive when he was making Hong Kong films than after shifting his focus toward the mainland Chinese market. This doesn’t mean Chinese films are inherently bad, but the changing industry and environment have unfortunately made the unique identity of a "Stephen Chow film" gradually fade away. As a small but passionate Stephen Chow fan who grew up watching his movies, I was definitely going to support it anyway. We can’t see Stephen Chow act on screen anymore, but his movies can still carry that familiar "Stephen Chow flavor," and that alone is worth supporting. Today, I watched it with my girlfriend, and honestly, both of us—and the whole cinema—were laughing throughout the movie. We both loved it, and even my Gen Z girlfriend, who didn’t grow up with Stephen Chow’s movies or understand all his classic jokes, gave it a 9/10. At the end of the day, watching a movie is about having fun. Life is already stressful enough.
