Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru An intense, gritty and explosive crime thriller. Rated: 7.87/10 Feb 28, 2019 Full Review Edmund Lee South China Morning Post A sometimes exciting, often ludicrous and ultimately very forgettable sequel. Dan F Great pacing, but it's nothing special. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/12/22 Full Review gareth d Pretty fun, well-acted, interesting story with some twists, worth a watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member L Storm is a hot mess of a film bereft of compelling characters, a good script and in essence simply bad. In an age of increasingly cliched Hong Kong movies, one wonders what would resurrect the industry. Certainly not L Storm. For a film with a runtime of 95 minutes, L Storm doesn't even have enough time to kick into high gear before going out with a puff of smoke rather than a bang, and much less can be said about its character development, since it is pretty much non-existent. Kevin Cheng is introduced here as the leader of a team which investigates corrupt officers within ICAC itself, but the role itself is the stereotypical anti-hero type that is investigating the lead for bribery, despite being a good actor himself. On the other side of the law we have newcomer Adam Pak's debut performance as Thomson, who specializes in money laundering and works for Wang, played with effortless evil by Patrick Tam, and Pak does handle the character well (so much so he was nominated for Best New Performer for this role), but he is the only character that actually gets any development, even if it may be force-fed and just spelled out to the audience. Unfortunately, what could have been a good film is bogged down by a tired script which in essence just kills off characters if it is suffering from writer's block. In a word, bad. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member 1 year 1 storm movie, the rotten officers got caught is the moral high land. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
