Anton Bitel Little White Lies Lulù’s raw individuality cannot easily be accommodated by any ideological theory – and while The Working Class Goes To Heaven is full of conflicting ideas shouted through bullhorns, Lulù remains an awkward, time-serving misfit. Jan 4, 2023 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia This political drama of Petri, awarded with the Palme d'Or at the Cannes film festival, touches my reflective tissues and captivates me with its denouncing material about the working class conditions in a factory. Luca d Probably setted in the middle of wokers strikes movements taking place in Italy during 1969, Elio Petri vigourously shakes the viewer with a powerful sequence of sounds, images and events; in a very successfull attempt of portraing the working class struggle. Lulu Massa's character, masterfully interpreted by Gian Maria Volonté, makes it easy to empathize, accompaning us to a story of resignation, rage and rebellion. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/19/22 Full Review Audience Member Petri shows faithfully the condition of the italian working class and offers an insight into the contradictions of the italian society during the economic "boom" but it trascends in a metaphore full of symbolism, criticizing capitalism itself. There is also a description of the human condition and a sense of loneliness and inescapability, especially thanks to the intense interpretation given by a wonderful Gian Marià Volontè. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A powerful film about the working class. The Italian director Elio Petri manages to portray the most destructive and alienating aspects of factory work, where every worker is considered only a machine. Petri's directing style is unconventional: the camera moves very fast and there are numerous shots and zooms to represent the unsustainable rhythms of society. The script is remarkable as well as the interpretation of Gian Maria Volonté, who manages to fit perfectly into the character. The film is very exciting and frenetic, thanks also to the soundtrack written by the great Morricone. A masterpiece. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Probably the best movie ever made about working class, assembly line and piece rate system with Modern Times. The movie is a realistic portrait of a credible character, an exhausted worker damaged in the psyche as well as in the body. Gian Maria Volontè, the main actor offers a stunning personation. Elio Petri direction is so empathic. A mention to Ennio Morricone soundtrack that express all the anxieties of the movie into music Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Probabilmente uno dei migliori film italiani della storia. Elio Petri dimostra di nuovo di essere un genio, portando questa volta l'attenzione sul mondo della classe operaia e mostrandone gli aspetti più distruttivi ed alienanti, grazie anche ad un tour-de-force di Gian Maria Volonté. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Morricone and a method-acting Volonte can't save this mess, no matter the political and contemporary importance of the film Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
