Ramiro Orellana is a Chilean teacher (Patricio Contreras) who has raised the ire of the local military dictatorship, resulting in his exile to a remote village in the south of the country. While adjusting to his imposed relocation, he meets the lovely Maite (Gloria Laso), and the two begin a romance. When the area is threatened by tidal waves, Maite's father requests that Ramiro take her away from the coast, but is she ready to leave her town and commit to him?
