Justin T When I watch this is was called Mountain of the Cannibal God (1978) and was let down by the terrible transfer cropping out talking actors some of the time (note that this is not the case for the uncut version, just the version that I watched as I really don't want to see animals getting killed). It is also let down by an utterly terrible script. The tribal violence in this is sickening which is good if you want that but the story meanders into silliness. The real violence has no place in a fictional film. I quite liked the whole thing about the odd tribe worshipping a corpse thinking that the Geiger counter is his heart beating after death but this interesting concept is totally lost within the film making it only worth watching once for gore-hounds and no-one else. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/23 Full Review Desmond B Mountain of the Cannibal God is the translation of the Italian title (La montagna del dio cannibale). The movie was released in the US as Slave of the Cannibal God in 1979 and the UK as Prisoner of the Cannibal God, but not until 2001 due to its "graphic violence". Can't see the problem myself, but maybe I have watched too many cannibal movies. I found it a bit dull, with long scenes of exposition and lingering images of the cast struggling through the jungle or over waterfalls. I guess they had to pad it out somehow, considering all the action takes place in the last ten minutes. It is a good adventure film not as shocking as cannibal holocaust but still good. James Bond's original woman plays the main character.
