Convicted terrorist Lisa Venturi (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi) is given the opportunity to leave her prison on a work release program. While on the outside, she encounters Alberto Sajevo (Nanni Moretti), a professor who expresses an unusual interest in her. As they get to know each other, it becomes clear that there's something that Alberto isn't saying. In time he reveals the terrible truth: He was one of her intended victims, and he still has a bullet in his skull to prove it.
