Audience Member Nice comedy from Puerto Rico, with a touch of drama, Spanish with easy to read English subtitles Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member At the Cleveland International Film Festival 2014 the English translation of this title was given as Hopeless Hopeful. This Puerto Rican comedy is full of enjoyable twists. All the plot synopses I've seen focus on Jorge (Carlos Marchand) becoming an inept bank robber to be able to pay for a life-saving surgery for his wife. But there is more to it than that! In a nod to Rashomon, the story starts over from his wife Lisa's (Marisé Alvarez) perspective. She is not nearly so clueless about her husband's scheme as he thinks. In fact, she knows he will bumble it unless she covertly helps him. Into the mix falls another financially strapped woman (Lynnette Salas), who Lisa befriends. The story changes perspective yet again and then back again to each of the three leads. It comes down to the wire. Can these three successfully rob a bank before Lisa's heart defect kills her?!
