Synopsis
In this film version of a Gaetano Donizetti opera, Fernando (Gino Sinimberghi) is a young monk in 14th century Spain who falls in love with the beautiful Leonora (Sofia Lazzaro), who just happens to be the mistress of King Alfonso (Paolo Silveri). Leaving the monastery and professing his love for Leonora, Fernando is sent to war with the Moors without discovering Leonora's secret. When he returns a hero, he hopes to wed his love -- but the king may disapprove.
