Aender S A monument of French comedy, bringing together again Bourvil and Louis de Funès after the phenomenal success of "Le corniaud". "Ich bin malade!" Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review DanTheMan 2 I went into this with a rather negative mindset but amazingly Gérard Oury's expansive, multi-genre comedy hit the right stride managing to turn my expectations around and make me laugh out loud many times. Even when the war itself was still something of an open wound in the national consciousness, Don't Look Now... We're Being Shot At! Succeeds in lampooning Nazis and the French resistance alike. Witty, situational, absurdist and burlesque, much of the humour revolves around the clash of nationalities and national eccentricities, one that is exceptionally well shot and has the feel of a genuine blockbuster, with an attention to detail that would rival many a contemporary Hollywood war epic. Despite the overly long running time, I can't recommend this film enough; the likeability of the characters, the sunny, picturesque settings and the general feeling of good-natured charm make this film almost impossible to dislike, acting as an antidote to the dour and often brutal depictions of occupied France in the 1940s and 1950s. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review Audience Member classic!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member La gran juerga [1966] Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A rare, very rare and remarquable thing in my film experience, the second film of a successful team - Oury, Bourvil and De Funès here- manages to break the records broken by its predecessor not only in terms of box office, but also of pure pleasure. 'La Grande Vadrouille' is one of the great French comedy gems, filled with excellent dialogues, situations, and above all actors. Join Bourvil and Louis De Funès for this hilarious "vadrouille" on French roads passing by beautiful monuments ( the Opera, the Hospices de Beaune...). Too bad the dialogues lose their sharpness through the translation, but it still is worth it. We all saw 'La Grande Vadrouille' 25 times, and believe me, next time it comes on TV, we'll watch it again. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member One of my favorite movies of all time... You might have to be European to fully get it, but I urge everyone to watch it anyway! Its funny, clever and a grand ol time from start to the credits. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
