After World War I, former French soldier Seraphin (Patrick Bruel) returns to the village where he was born and begins to uncover the truth about his orphaned past. He learns that his parents were brutally murdered and that the immigrants convicted of the crime were apparently framed, leading him to believe that three local magnates are the real culprits. Yet, as Seraphin becomes entangled with the daughters (Sophie Brochet, Agnès Blanchot) of these powerful men, the truth becomes more complex.
