This fact-based film, set in Patagonia, tells the story of anarchists who, in the 1920s, helped impoverished farm laborers protest against their landowner bosses in hopes of securing higher wages and better working conditions. Things turn ugly when the government sides with the landowners, and a military brigade is brought in to quash the strike. The deaths of strike leader Jose Font and German socialist Schultz mark the beginning of what becomes a massacre.

12/30/2016 Excellent movie. It tells the true story of a strike in Santa Cruz, Argentine Patagonia, strictly adhering to reality. Brilliant performances by Hector Alterio, Pepe Soriano and Luis Brandoni. A classic of Argentine cinema, which was banned by the military dictatorship for a decade. The photograph and the script have a western aesthetic. See more 09/22/2010 Great movie. Fantastic adaptation by Hector Olivera. A must-watch!
