Audience Member Highly recommendable documentary on the rise of La Santa Muerte worship in Mexico. It is also a very relevant subject to those following the war in Mexico, as this explains part of the social component of the war. Followers of La Santa Muerte are those rejected by the Catholic Church, and therefore, by mainstream Mexicans. Homosexuals, prostitutes, gang members, and other members of Mexican society underworld, who currently serve to the cartels as soldiers and informants, many times involuntarily, end up having an admirable strong faith on this hybrid divinity figure of Aztec nahua and medieval Catholic origin. Narrated by Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal, in perfect English, this is a highly informative and interesting docufilm. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
