DanTheMan 2 @DanTheMan2150AD Apr 11 It's so surreal to see what amounts to a public rough draft as we're so often blind to everything but the final product and a few carefully selected behind-the-scenes featurettes, but here you can see Mann's work in progress and what a difference six years and $75 million make. You can track some of his directorial ideas as they emerge, develop and refine, not just as he reacts to flaws and fixes them, but also as he takes his successes and pushes them one step further; however, it's a film that suffers from its origins; budget constraints are pitifully obvious in some scenes, but you can see Mann's signature style trying to break through. Standing as a reminder that even the most iconic works often start as something much rougher, L.A. Takedown is no less ambitious, battle-tested and rapid-prototyped into a well-oiled crime thriller machine.
