Georgan G This German film shows how Nazis continued their normal lives after WWII. Worse, it demonstrates that antisemitism also remained. The real hero of this historical event is not the young prosecutor show in the film, but Fritz Bauer, his boss. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This foreign crime drama was really good. Alexander Fehling and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. This true story about a German prosecutor determined to bring all Nazi officers to justice for their heinous crimes against the Jews was dramatic, inspiring, and heroic. It's about doing whatever it takes to do what is right for others that need closure and that justice is upheld to convict the evil that was done. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Serge L Except for the romantic sub plot, the film sticks with the true story of the trials of the former nazis. Good reenactment and we are still stunned about this war repercussions. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/03/21 Full Review Audience Member Solid, straightforward story of a German public prosecutor spearheading a movement to go after his own countrymen for crimes committed at Auschwitz. It’s sufficiently successful at bringing you into the late 50s in Germany, before the country had acknowledged the Holocaust, and when every almost adult alive probably had something in their past they were ashamed of. It does a good job of asking what anyone would have done if they had grown up in Nazi Germany and of showing why the pursuit of war criminals is about more than punishment. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/28/20 Full Review Audience Member Some of the writing and execution are strictly by-the-book and therefore lack some quality, but the sheer significance of the central story is conveyed in an engaging manner and never loses direction or momentum. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review william k Well-intentioned historical drama marks an important moment in the development of post-WWII Germany, well-made, but not really provocative or controversial. Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It's a classic tale, told by director Giulio Ricciarelli with a fine eye for period detail and a welcome air of restraint. Rated: 4/5 Apr 7, 2016 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald Fehling does a fine job as Radmann, who also carries a heavy weight, as a cypher for all the Germans who did not want to know what their fathers did in the war. Rated: 4/5 Mar 30, 2016 Full Review David Stratton The Australian Such a subject deserves a more rigorous treatment. Rated: 3/5 Mar 25, 2016 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) Being based on a true story, this respectful and studious re-creation of what became a landmark case in the German courts rarely puts a foot wrong. Rated: 3/5 Sep 11, 2020 Full Review Joanne Laurier World Socialist Web Site Labyrinth of Lies successfully dramatizes the events leading up to hearings that helped illuminate the truth... Aug 13, 2020 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens A compelling and riveting piece of filmmaking, the intelligence with which this little known factual chapter of history - and German history - is brought to life, indelibly sears the conscience and the heart.
