Alex Nelson Minneapolis Star Tribune Engrossing for the whole family. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 9, 2015 Full Review Andrew Marshall Starburst While Labyrinthus is a far cry from the greatest of teenage adventure films, it's certainly enjoyable enough for what it is. Rated: 6/10 Jul 29, 2015 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film While younger kids will probably have a tolerance for the low-fi manoeuvering, kids the same age as Frikke are likely to find it all a bit old hat. Sehenswert Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/24/23 Full Review Audience Member This is my favorite Belgian movie, or as we say it: Mijn favoriete Belgische film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member its amazing...really l love it :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review born k Good lower-countries fantasy production, oriented to the youger audience / early teenagers. It reminds very much the classic movies of the type around the 80's and 90's. Good plot, nice actings, ok effects - fun for the family. 6,0 /10,0 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I saw this at the 2015 Cleveland International Film Festival. This Belgian family friendly adventure takes a Jumanji-like concept and throws it into a video game fantasy setting. The young actors, led by Spencer Bogaert as Frikke, are game for a ton of green screen work. The effects are pretty good for sustaining 80-90% of the story on a relatively low indie budget. The mystery at the center, about who the villain is and what his evil plan is, is the strongest part of the plot. There are some laughs, especially from Frikke's shaggy dog, and some mild scares. My biggest disappointment is that unlike the books The Phantom Tollbooth, Alice in Wonderland, and The Wizard of Oz the actors don't interact with the fantasy environment much and there doesn't seem to be much reason for the different parts of the game to be designed the way they are. While the young hero pieces together the puzzle in the real world, the virtual fantasy world becomes repetitive. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
