nick s Great acting and directing in this atmospheric gem. The lead character is an interesting study with contrasting personality traits. While not much of a spectacle, the movie is a great watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/15/24 Full Review Martin B Just a brilliant movie. Ida Lupino leading a terrific cast just shows why she had no peer with regard to range in the era she was active in movies. Not a raving beauty like so many leading ladies were she still was magnetic. Here a deeply flawed women who could murder to protect what she thought was right but couldn't survive the guilt. Only Ida Lupino could deliver a character that was a murderer and still have you hoping that some way she could redeem herself which of course could no happen. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review deke p WOW! This was really good!! & it was IDA LUPINO's favorite! 'Period' piece. Wanting to root for Ida as older sister who wants to care for her 2 adult 'mentally challenged' sisters. Then things take a very strange, increasingly involved surprising turns. The denoument leaves one wondering what will become of everyone. BTW, one of the younger sisters, the more ditzy one, is played by ELSA LANCHESTER who played the original BRIDE of FRANCENSTEIN. Finally watched the whole thing on the television set 7-17-2022 The Movie Channel 13.3 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting period drama/thriller based on the hit play. The horror/thrills come across a bit understated for modern audiences, though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member wohooo apparently it's such a dark movie Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member A quite enjoyable film noir.
