The Sox are looking like championship contenders, until one day movie star Pepita Zorita (Lupe Velez) visits a game, and Wacky Waters (Eddie Albert), the team's ace thrower, falls in love. The club has Pepita follow the team on a road trip. Unfortunately, this proves distracting for Waters, who pitches losing game after losing game. When the Sox manage to advance to the World Series while Pepita is off shooting a film, her impending return spurs the wives of the players to take drastic action.
