Audience Member The English narration was a surprise but nothing short of an enjoyable and realistic one- each character played their parts well and the in-depth historical content flourished in this movie! It brought to life the old-age history behind the film- while the costumes might have been slightly exaggerated but pleasant to see nonetheless. Fan BingBing did not let anybody down in this movie. My God. Her acting was brought to life entirely! Everything she went through was filled with such harrowing emotions that it makes you wander what in the world she possibly thinks of to bring out those emotions that she experiences... She /is/ the character that she acts. There is no denying that. Just as well- the others acted very beautifully. The storyline was a perfect tragedy that makes you /feel/ for those characters and wish direly that they could have had a happier ending but it was simply realistic in all respects. After the success of Fan BingBing's character in the series "The Empress of China" as Wu ZheTian, she continues to portray one of China Beauty Maiden: Lady Yang Guifei. While Fan BingBing is seasoned playing role of lady from the Tang Dynasty, she failed to bring the movie to life. The entire movie is a flop as it is simply hollow. Choosing to aesthetic over substance: beautifully decorated, good looking stars but poor screenwriting, horrible chemistry, and a mixed culture English narration which obviously didn't work. Such a big letdown, where Yang Guifei life and story were merely told, instead, time were wasted mainly the many scenes of polo and Leon's boring strict face acting.
