Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Intriguing on personal and political levels. Rated: 3/5 Jun 14, 2015 Full Review David Jenkins Little White Lies Well made and well performed, if lacking the killer edge of a Christian Petzold movie. Rated: 3/5 Jun 12, 2015 Full Review Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) Christian Schwochow's late 1970s-set drama about young East German woman Nelly (Jrdis Triebel) trying to build a new life in the west has some of the same mix of pathos and paranoia that characterised The Lives of Others. Rated: 3/5 Jun 11, 2015 Full Review Patrick Gamble CineVue Pregnant with deception and exuding a malignancy both frightening and perversely fascinating, cinematographer Frank Lamm's voyeuristic lensing beautifully conveys Nelly's heightened sense of paranoia. Rated: 3/5 Apr 5, 2019 Full Review Tom Birchenough The Arts Desk Triebel's character is fully drawn, more so perhaps than what the script actually offered her: she gives a big performance in what is in the end a small film. Rated: 3/5 Nov 21, 2017 Full Review Alex Zane The Sun (UK) Strong performances and a foreboding atmosphere ramp up the paranoia. Rated: 3/5 Jan 1, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member A film that begins with tension as one woman attempts to leave East Germany for the West with her young son and then moves into extreme paranoia territory as she struggles to trust anyone who comes into her new life. The lead actress is superb as a mother struggling to protect her son while at the same time losing her grip on reality due to what she has been subjected to. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member A fine representation of secrets and paranoia and its affect on the little people of the cold war era. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member It started out as an interesting look back into eastern german humiliation of people, then into eastern "refugees" in the west german "camp" and then it went into paranoia, irrational (in the context) sex ,shifting alliances and then it just ended. Nothing was solved, really. I actually was wondering will this never end. not bad but..... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
