Audience Member It's Zalman King, and like Red Shoe Diaries, it's softcore for those who see erotica more in the head than the genitals. Irene is a much more developed character than the norm for this genre and despite the trauma of her past, she still longs for it. Billy starts out as a stereotype but his reaction to Irene once he's learned the backstory is very unusual. Joan Severance is perfect for her role - just the right balance of expression and suppression, and that look on her face in the final scene makes the film. The beginning sequence is cringing worthy on how long it is, with flashes of drums and it just seems to continue. I'm thinking to myself when is this movie gonna start and through out the movie the same drum flashes of the scene kept going through out the whole movie and jazzy tunes. The only reason that it caught my attention was because of Billy Zane, he had hair and wasn't bald. He had sort of a mysterious look, other than that it was bad. Couldn't take this seriously at all, just laugh at the end of what I just watched and couldn't believe I wasted an hour an half. It all began when we were sitting around looking for a movie to watch on Netflix, and we knew we'd go with this movie from the moment we saw its poster. From the moment the crazy drum flash backs begin and the crazy bitch main character is getting a little too close to her husband with their toddler son watching, we knew we were in for a ride. As things unfolded, with the main character falling asleep as she is essentially being inadvertently kidnapped and with Billy Zane fucking everybody across Chinatown and at some crazy bath house, things were rather intense. The movie ends with what's basically a rape and then Billy Zane says, more or less, "Fuck you, I'm out, enjoy being a housewife with a guilty conscience." Respectable if you ask me.
