After his parents divorce, teenager Siddharta (Niccolò Senni) lives with his mother, Silvia (Valeria Golino), in Rome. Silva is a heroin addict who has a five-year-old daughter from Roberto, a man she was involved with after her divorce. Domitilla (Francesca Di Giovanni) comes to visit for the holidays and injures herself with one of Silva's needles. Immediately concerned, Siddharta rushes to get her tested for possible diseases, battling hospital staff and his parents to ensure her safety.
