James S It's not just the unique way this film is made -- blending real life home movies of the director, set in their old family home, and starring his own family -- that makes it so good. it's also a tense, slow-burning thriller about loss, obsession, and nostalgia that stays with you well after your'e done watching. One of my favourite films of the year for sure! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/10/23 Full Review Terry Janes A Well done. It was artistic, thoughtful, and done so creatively with the incorporation of real home videos. The Owens family brings talent behind and in front of the camera. Very indie. Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) I like the nugget of an idea here, but I wish it were executed with more panache. Jan 18, 2023 Full Review Wade Major FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) I got chills, and that doesn't happen to me often. Jan 18, 2023 Full Review Fred Barrett In Review Online While Owens' unique spin on found footage horror is undeniably creative, his protagonist's endless wandering and constant tinkering with retro gadgets begin to wear thin eventually. Jan 16, 2023 Full Review Dan Scully ScullyVision In the moment, it’s a sleepy sorta-ghost story that lightly tugs the viewer into a state of relaxed tension, but once the credits roll, its staying power is undeniable. Jan 12, 2023 Full Review Alan French Sunshine State Cineplex Paul Owens showcases some true talent in Landlocked, and crafts some very unique visuals in the process. While the narrative runs a little thin, and the tonal balance can use a little more development, Paul emerges as a voice to watch. Rated: 7/10 Jan 5, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
