Audience Member i loved this film. I don't often like romantic comedies in a way that i remember it for more than 24 hours..i feel like i just saw something that spoke to me in a significant way that is for a life-time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked this a LOT. I can totally relate to the hopeless romantic whose relationships never match those in his dreams, someone who always gives too much, who ends up being taken advantage of and left behind. Nice that he finally recognized real love when he found it and went after it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member El lenguaje de un corazón roto... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member The acting is really bad. So is the script. There's no character development at all and there are a couple of farcical characters that are just stupid. The protagonist Nick is anemic, as is the actor's portrayal of him. It's an amateur film. I got less than half way and couldn't stand any more. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Structurally, this is a fairly standard love story. What's unique about it, and to me very endearing, is the character writer/star Juddy Talt (Nick) creates...a straight man who is a hopeless romantic of the kind we usually associate as feminine. In that way, it turns gender roles upside down by making him sensitive but not effeminate, not something I've seen before. The story is well directed by Rocky Powell, apparently his first effort. But this is Talt's film and whether you like it or not depends on whether you like Nick. I did. It's often funny and cleverly written with awkward moments and it's refreshing to see his take on being a non-stereotypical male. Cary Darling Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com Take (500) Days of Summer and Garden State, strip away their charms and you end up with Language of a Broken Heart, a handsomely shot but tired pile-up of indie rom-com clichs. Rated: 2/5 Apr 11, 2013 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle Language of a Broken Heart might have made a passable Hallmark or Lifetime TV movie, cushioned by the TV-movie context. But as a theatrical prospect, it's a fail. Rated: 1.5/5 Mar 29, 2013 Full Review Glenn Whipp Los Angeles Times Just don't expect to fall hard for it. Rated: 2/5 Mar 14, 2013 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens Despite a few flaws, Language of a Broken Heart is a film that, like love itself, is filled with hope, promise and some sweet surprise. Nov 26, 2019 Full Review Brent Simon Shockya.com Exactly the movie that one expects it to be -- a frustrating quality for some, but smooth medicine for those who trust and like writer-actors' puppy dog tales that unfold loosely in the vein of Ed Burns. Rated: C+ Apr 24, 2013 Full Review Lindsey Cherner Austin American-Statesman Don't expect to fall head-over-heels for this tale of a nice guy finishing last, but you'll appreciate its quirks, insight and humor.
