Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News “LaRoy, Texas” remains as unpredictable as an overly agitated Texas rattlesnake and has just about as much bite to it. Rated: 3/4 Apr 17, 2024 Full Review Robert Daniels RogerEbert.com Atkinson’s hilarious feature debut is a barn burner of a western-thriller whose Coen Brothers-inspired nods give life to its meek protagonist. Rated: 3/4 Apr 12, 2024 Full Review Phil Hoad Guardian If Atkinson isn’t quite the Coen inheritor he aspires to be, this hectic flurry of schemers, snatchers and low-lifes puts him three-quarters of the way to inventing a new genre: Texan noir farce. Rated: 3/5 Apr 8, 2024 Full Review Jaylan Salah InSession Film But it lacks one of the most important elements of this specific sub-genre, and that is a captivating script. Rated: C+ Feb 25, 2025 Full Review Kat Halstead Common Sense Media LaRoy, Texas is full of Coen brothers-style charm, with its dark humor, absurd interludes, and existential middle-of-nowhere location combined with a solid level of bloody violence and characters you can't help but root for. Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Calum Baker Radio Times A uniformly excellent cast keeps the pace going, right to the inevitably bloody climax. Rated: 4/5 Jul 1, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Ben W I really like this movie. It kept me guessing and I was also very drawn into the characters. Anybody who didn't like this movie doesn't appreciate good writing and/or a little bit of dark comedy. Characters were amazing. Plot was easy enough to follow but had good amount of twists to keep you guessing. Coen brothers style for sure. Highly recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/28/25 Full Review Jeffrey P A slow-burner that became muddled in the middle and fizzled out in the end. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/25 Full Review AE J Steve Zahn makes it, he makes just about every picture he is in. Good writing, very funny in a Fargo kind of way. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/07/25 Full Review JB M Excellent cast. Will keep you entertained. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/25 Full Review Waqas K Loved this movie, funny at times, keeps gussing you about what's to come. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/25 Full Review Brad B The unfinished truth. Unfinished in life, finished in death. What a lovely portrait. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/25 Full Review Read all reviews
