Penelope Y Sep 14 Knowing this film is based on a true story makes the storytelling even more compelling and heightens the empathy you feel for the sons. Robert Patrick delivers a gripping performance as a convict father- initially believable as a wronged man, but as the story unfolds, he transforms into a monster, the complete opposite of how their mother had portrayed him to her sons. Heather Graham was a surprise in the role of the boys’ mother, playing a religious and partly mentally unstable woman who struggles to distinguish between reality and delusion. Overall, it’s an engaging film- entertaining to watch and thrilling at times.
