Last Summer suffers from a sparse storyline which will make it too slow for many, but Thiedeman's moody camerawork gives the film a lyrical quality that perfectly captures the sadness of a season about to end.

One of the finest directorial debuts of recent years is Mark Thiedeman's. Here a young helmer paints the screen with complex textures and sound, perfectly capturing the joys and throes of teens in love in a very small Arkansas town.

Incredible depiction of the emotion that comes with the end of a slow paced, youthful summer in the south. The audience for this film may be a niche one, but for those that it resonates with, it's perfectly clear why it's exceptional.

Shocking .... the other reviews are so low. There's not a lot of drama here, just great acting, writing, and photography. I really like the movie, it was very touching and sweet. I'm not sure what the problem was with the other reviewer, but don't believe them, watch the movie, and give it a review.

The beginning is incomprehensible. The pace is glacial. Then, as the story gently unfolds, it makes sense and, to these eyes, almost unbearable beautiful.

Boring. Static scenes of skin, too many sounds of chirping birds and the directing interferes wupith what can be an interesting story. The director should give up movies and paint stills so he is less confused by his "Art"
