Audience Member A great french crime film classic Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Mickey (Gérard Depardieu) is a young small-time crook. Together with Serge (Pierre Forget) he escapes from prison. Seems like it is all fun and a game for Mickey, until he gets into a shooting with the police. Serge gets seriously injured and Mickey takes him to an old friend. Noel (Yves Montand; the incredibly good Yves Montand!) used to be a big gangster, but now he is retired and living with his wife Nicole (Catherine Deneuve) on an estate and breeds horses. He does not want to go back into his old business, but since Mickey turns out to be a danger for everyone's life, he contacts his old colleagues. Soon everyone is after everyone and of course the police also gets involved. Mickey is not aware of what he is doing or whom he is getting into troubles with. He tries to get back to his old life and his old small-time pals, but it is too late for that. He is already trapped and there is no way out of this unholy wheel of brutality. Everyone soon wants to see the other ones dead. And everyone is too nervous to think anything through. Same as Mickey, I did not know where this story was going for nearly one hour. I was completely lost, but I knew right from the start that there was only one person in this movie, who was human and likeable. Mickey. Everyone is sleepless, he sleeps like a log. Everyone is cold and emotionless, he cries like a baby. Well, and I always love Gérard Depardieu. Everytime I watch one of his French movies from the seventies and the early eighties, I can't believe I do not watch them exclusively. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie starts you out thinking that it'll be a routine gangster plot. About half way through, it changes the focus from who is shooting who to whether or not any of these characters' actions are morally justifiable. It's better for the change in focus. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member KOI????!!!! Personne n'a rien a dire sur ce film... Kan les Francais apprenai o monde a etr des supervilain...
