Serra Ü This documentary was super inspiring because it showed how young girls in Afghanistan are learning to skateboard and getting an education, even in a really dangerous environment. It was amazing to see how something as simple as skateboarding gave them confidence and hope for a better future. I found it meaningful because it reminded me how important it is to support people who are fighting for their rights, even when things seem impossible. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Javier R This film follows the inspiring story of young Afghan girls learning to skateboard in Kabul, where their opportunities for freedom and self-expression are often limited by societal norms and the country's ongoing conflict. This story is meaningful because it sheds light on the transformative power of sports for the Afghan girls , illustrating how small acts of defiance can create opportunities for personal growth and social change in the face of adversity. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Carrington M This film was very influential and gives someone who is not from outside the country to see an inside look on what girls go through. It was meaningful and inspiring to see girls who work so hard being gifted nothing and honestly just made me so grateful for all that I have. The only reason I did not give this a full five star is because I wanted more! It was so intriguing I wanted to keep learning. The director did an amazing job on not filming this in a way just to be a money grab but a way for people to learn at what is at risk for women not just in America. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Ana T This film broadened my understanding and perspective on the challenges faced in different areas of the world. Watching the girls gain self-confidence and develop a sense of pride within themselves, apart from the hardships surrounding them, was truly uplifting. Films like this may not be your first choice after a long day, but when you dedicate the time to watch them, they expand your worldview and deepen your appreciation for impactful storytelling. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/12/24 Full Review Grace N Never would I have thought that going to a prestigious four-year university would mean me crying over skateboarding. This film is breathtaking. The symbolism of roses and flowers stimulates the stages of the war to the audience while also providing a light at the end of the tunnel for the people who live around such violence. The light and passion that the young skateboarding teacher had inspired me to carry the light through the darkness and give people something to fight for. This was a great film to watch the first week of college because it set up a mindset I carried with me for the rest of the semester and hopefully for the rest of my life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/12/24 Full Review Naomi B This incredibly motivating documentary exhibits the courage of young women in Afghanistan learning to skateboard while living life in such a restricting country. The film highlights the phenomenal program allowing these women to find their passion and receive an education as well as the strong kids navigating life.
