C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore Van Hees aims for lofty goals. The screenplay touches on everything from the ancient concept of Ouroboros to Greek mythology, to bringing Samhain into the mix. Audience Member I finally got around to checking this out after owning it for at least a few years, but man, it was a solid flick and worth the wait. There's a very slow burn to the unsettling nature of the film, but the pay-off was worth it for me. Give it a shot if you have some patience and dig on foreign horror. Rental! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member WOW. ok if you are squeamish with people being sick, or needles or blood please don't watch this. i know it sounds bad, but really it's not. it's applicable to the story and not just thrown in for gore. this movie really reminded me of donnie darko, when it's done you'll know why. i was so pleasantly surprised by this movie! i really wasn't prepared for the ride i was taking. i have to say that foreign horror movies give me hope for the genre, after what we've done in the west, anywhere east of here can really make it all up. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Belgium Movie wich was better then i expected ...liked Schoenaerts & Eline playing in this . Good Story ...bit of a weird ending maybe . SOMDVD Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Definitely creepy, Left Bank held my interest. Nice acting by the Marie character, Ms. Kuppins. Maybe the end left something to be desired but I enjoyed the ride! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member A claustrophobic thriller that could have easily been a horror movie. It may be a bit too slow for the fans of horror genre as it takes its time to set up the story and develop the characters. Not everything in the story works and there seem to be a few dead ends in the plot, but overall it was a refreshingly chilling movie without turning into a creep-show. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The story develops slowly but achieves a subtle creepiness that grows over time. The settings and cinematography are very good in a quite understated way. The characters are believable and the acting very good. Only near the end does the story move beyond creepiness and become truly horrific and it does so in a series of sudden shifts that are not entirely unpredictable but that are quite effective anyway. The storyline does not develop in anything like the way I expected from the description and the ending, while foreshadowed, came as a complete surprise.
