Critics Consensus

Lemmy offers fealty to its rock god subject with a consistently entertaining - if thoroughly uncritical - look at his incredible life and legacy.

It is an inspiring film not because of the whole sticking-to-his-guns thing, but because of the purity of it. Go to Full Review

Crisply cut package shrewdly eschews the linear approach. Viewers are given a good look at Kilmister at home and on the road with Motorhead before segs covering his 45-year career are smoothly woven into the framework Go to Full Review

This parade of admiration is almost as exhausting as the experience of a Motrhead concert Go to Full Review

Lemmy is a fascinating, slightly overlong, almost-warts-and-all documentary about Motörhead's bassist/lead singer. Go to Full Review

At times, the film smartly uses subtitles he is so hard to understand, but the whole movie could use them. However, these are small quibbles for a film that if you"re a longtime Lemmy fan, makes you feel great about having placed your faith in his hands. Go to Full Review

While the film delights in bringing insight into the man's more private moments, it successfully reveals him to also be tremendously popular, both as an influence and a friend. Go to Full Review

Oleg K Sep 24 Interesting, inspiring, positive, informative! Thank you for a great film about the great Lemmy! See more Pete B Mar 25 Lemmy from Motörhead is one of the most badass guys in rock history, but this documentary is weirdly unfocused. It’s basically just a bunch of rock stars sitting around saying, “Wow, Lemmy’s cool,” over and over, with very little structure. Yeah, we know he’s cool, but how about some insight? It also drags so much—by the end, you feel like you’ve just spent two hours watching a dude play slot machines and drink Jack Daniels. See more Andy B @AndyB21 02/26/2023 Esentially two hours of hagiographic grovelling from a variety of famous talking heads. The scenes with Lemmy and his son are weirdly uncomfortable and the few and far between snapshots of a younger Lemmy suggest a more interesting but less flattering film could have been made here. See more Paul S 11/04/2018 I love the hell out of this movie. I have long enjoyed hearing Lemmy speak over the years, and it was a blast watching this documentary. What a great way to honor the memory of this legend. I've seen this twice. I own the Blu Ray DVD and I'll certainly watch it again and again. See more 03/05/2018 The greatest rock-doc of all time! Such a compelling story, even if you've never heard of Lemmy. See more Doom D 10/11/2017 Love it. J'ai connu sa musique de son vivant, mais pas assez et surtout pas assez connu ce personnage intéressant. See more Read all reviews
