Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Anyone with fond memories of the campy original (and that probably doesn't include Jennifer Aniston, who made her screen debut in it), should steer clear of this edition, whose title character has no devilish charm at all. Mar 16, 2018 Full Review Tim Brayton Alternate Ending Tired, airless, inexcusably ugly. Rated: 0.5/5 Jun 21, 2022 Full Review Gavin Jasper Den of Geek In the end, what we have is a mediocre movie that nobody would care about if it didn't adopt the name of a semi-popular horror franchise and smack a pro wrestler's name onto the top of the poster. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 16, 2018 Full Review Brad Miska Bloody Disgusting Leprechaun is the worst kind of horror movie. It's just so generic and bland that it's not worth a second of your time. Mar 16, 2018 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed I'm not going to pretend the original movies were classics, but they definitely won't lull you to sleep like "Origins." Nov 1, 2014 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com Davis's performance, his sense of theatricality, and his villainous make-up are deeply missed. Rated: D- Sep 13, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews

Craig W. I’d give this no stars if I could. The whole leprechaun/predator thing wasn’t working for me. Totally got away from the other movies in the franchise and there is no comedy in this which make the other films fun to watch. This movie is horrible. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/16/25 Full Review Jack K. I couldn’t even get through half the movie it was that bad, the redesign for the leprechaun made no sense and it was just ugly, but maybe it would’ve made more sense if I finished the movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/09/25 Full Review thiago s Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas de terror são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/15/25 Full Review Erik B A reboot of the corny Leprechaun series; this version is decidedly darker and more of a straight horror movie. Made-for-TV acting, but pretty decent action and gore. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/07/25 Full Review TheMovieSearch R Leprechaun Origins is a stark departure from what made the original series memorable, and it’s hard to overstate how much the absence of Warwick Davis impacts this film. Hornswoggle steps into the titular role, but unfortunately, the magic isn’t there. Instead of a mischievous, gold-obsessed trickster, we get a creature more reminiscent of a generic 1980s gremlin, lacking personality, menace, or charm. The film’s attempt at a darker horror tone falls flat, leaving viewers confused rather than thrilled. The concept of exploring the leprechaun’s origins might have had potential, but the execution is a disaster. The narrative fails to clarify the character’s transformation or provide any meaningful backstory. Fans expecting a connection to the established universe are left disappointed, as the film disregards the legacy built by the earlier entries. Without Warwick Davis to anchor the character, the movie loses the humor-horror balance that defined the franchise. Creatively, the film is uninspired. The scares are predictable, the story is poorly constructed, and the script offers no depth. There’s no tension, no clever dialogue, and no personality—everything feels forced and disconnected. Unlike the first film, where Davis’ performance allowed the audience to both fear and enjoy the leprechaun, this version feels hollow and forgettable. When compared to other horror icons like Freddy Krueger, Chucky, or even the Scream franchise, Leprechaun Origins lacks the duality that makes a horror villain compelling. There’s no wit, no charisma, and no sense of fun—the elements that previously kept audiences engaged are entirely absent. In the end, this film marks the low point of the Leprechaun franchise. It’s a misstep that ignores the strengths of the original films, fails to deliver anything compelling, and alienates fans of the series. Attempting an origin story without the iconic Davis was a catastrophic choice. This is the entry where the franchise truly destroyed itself. By replacing Warwick Davis and trying to reinvent the character, the film undermined everything that made the Leprechaun iconic, making it the most regrettable installment in franchise history. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/25 Full Review George H Wow this movie really sucks! The only good part is Stephanie Bennett is really cute! That's literally it!
