Audience Member An evil twin movie that amplifies the idea of siblings to horrific degrees A young woman is in a motel and she just had sex, later a strange long haired man in a trench coat assaults her even to almost slitting her throat with a razor blade The woman then sees that's she's become pregnant in a short amount of time; seeing it as a horrific abomination she stabs her unborn child and ends up dead We then cut to 23 years later to present day to a woman named Helen, a bike courier who's the daughter of this woman that killed herself One night she is hit by a car then starts suffering major blackouts and hallucinations affecting her daily life It might be vanishing twin syndrome it turns out so it seems that Helen has a twin sister her mother would've had were it not for the suicide, instead of her mother absorbing it Helen is instead doing it With only her best friend Molly at her side Helen will have to fight to keep her twin sister from taking over The female lead by Alanna LeVierge is really terrific, a lot of the score is pretty spooky, there's some icky body mutilation and contortions adding to the mix, and they get a lot done with the short running time. There's also this presence of two color palettes sitting next to each other of red and blue signifying the separation of these twins. Who's gonna end up staying? Ok so a lot of the blood looks a bit fake but there's good underlying themes of mental illness, sibling rivalry, and female empowerment. Short, grisly, gets straight to the point, and some very well acted actresses make this twin picture quite horrific. Happy I got some good scares from this one. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Great story, great performances, neon soaked visuals are amazing, very solid indie horror form the team at Black Fawn Films Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Opens with sex scenes as a prostitute plies her trade, which turn dark when a rapist turns up; followed by a rather dark and somber mood which culminates in the woman killing herself, luckily the child she is carrying is saved. Fast forward 23 years to see the baby girl has grown in an attractive young woman named Helen. After Helen is hit by a car, she begins experiencing mental problems such as black outs and memory loss. It is evident that she is experiencing some kind of neurological trauma, but the truth is much stranger, and scarier than she ever imagined. Emilie Black Cinema Crazed Let Her Out is well written with themes of mental illness and the supernatural, led by strong female leads, and supported by fantastically gross special effects. Rated: 4.5/5 Apr 19, 2020 Full Review Joey Keogh Wicked Horror [Let Her Out's] an intoxicating, gory and hugely involving exercise in body horror and female empowerment that could reasonably stand alongside the likes of Carrie. Rated: 7/10 Oct 8, 2019 Full Review Patrick King Cultured Vultures Let Her Out is a hell of an experience. Very visually appealing, very visceral. If the story isn't quite up to snuff, the rest of the movie makes that easily forgivable. Sep 6, 2019 Full Review Gareth Jones Dread Central It looks excellent - and ultimately delivers an interesting premise, some really great scares and enough thoroughly grotesque third-act happenings to make it a more than worthwhile visit for horror fans. Sep 5, 2019 Full Review Carolyn Mauricette Cinema Axis Let Her Out is a beautiful and disturbing film. The contrasting muted and neon palette combined with sweeping views of Toronto's cityscape creates a clean backdrop for some seriously gross-out gore. May 16, 2019 Full Review Molly Henery The Blogging Banshee If this had just been a short consisting of the last 15 minutes of the film, I would have loved it. Unfortunately this was a feature length film riddled with plot holes, bumps and bends in the story that were nonsensical, and no real substance.
