Justin B Absolutely terrible acting from all members of the cast! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/05/24 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie growing up! There is also amazing music and the actors are so talented. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/12/23 Full Review Audience Member The songs have some bangers in them. always so fun to listen to them. the songs have some fire roasts and clever rhymes. this is not at 5 stars because I feel bad for how stupid Cyrus is. Glad he gets some common sense at the end not to be an asshole :) Love it! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Let it Shine breathes new life to the DCOM musical formula adding rap and the values of church giving the story incredible depth. The characters are uniquely realized and have such chemistry within the group. This movie feels grounded and fleshed out making it stand tall in the DCOM cannon. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member It is a great musical movie defiantly a must see if someone in the family loves all types of music!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member BEST DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE EVER. This is surprisingly such a great movie! I love Let It Shine! The cast is great and the acting is great! It's funny that Trevor Jackson is in this movie and he played a character that was a musical fraud just like how he played another musical fraud in one episode of Austin & Ally (which is a terrible show, by the way) named "T-Fame" who stole one of Austin Moon's songs and became an instant hit with fans. In this one, he plays a character named "Kris" who was assumed to be a rapper named "Truth" by his and Cyrus' childhood crush named "Roxanne". She listened to the hip hop songs performed by Cyrus (played by the wonderful, charismatic, and talented Tyler James Williams) and assumed that Kris was the one who was rapping those songs because he was always considered the "cool guy" out of him and his best friend, Cyrus. Cyrus was considered to be the "nerdy guy". Cyrus is really the main character and the musical artist "Truth" behind those songs. So Cyrus lets his best friend Kris take the spotlight for him and allows him to pretend to be Truth for Roxanne. Cyrus has a religious dad who is a preacher/pastor who is an extremely devoted Christian and doesn't like hip hop because he assumes that hip hop songs typically have curse words in them, and he doesn't realize that his son, Cyrus, secretly hangs out at a rap club every night. So as Cyrus' best friend Kris poses as Cyrus' musical alter ego "Truth". Eventually Kris could take the hypocrisy and Cyrus in the final act of the film revealed himself as Truth to Roxanne.
