Ben Sachs Chicago Reader A clever stylistic exercise, this French-Belgian coproduction will definitely hold your interest as it unfolds, but whether you'll remember it afterwards is another story. Tyler B The barrel of a gun never looked better. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/14/25 Full Review ELB E Let the Corpses Tan seems highly inspired by Sergio Leone from the ultra close-ups to the sagebrush setting (Mediterranean though it may be.) It's a very stylish vision, one that I appreciated. However, Sergio Leone was able to balance his style with substance and character development. The nonstop, rapid jump-cut editing in this film was exhausting and ultimately did a disservice to the story arc. To me this was a case of letting style take over to the detriment of the story being told. One has to admire the directors' commitment to this style, however: they certainly were consistent with that. I always want to give a shout out when there is a female director involved - the directors are the husband/wife team of Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani. While this film eventually (in my opinion) collapses under the weight of its socko-psycho style, it is definitely worth a watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/13/25 Full Review Bruce K Another WTF ending. Definitely French with all its bizarre (but visually appealing) camera shots, but story is lacking any relevant information to make it interesting. Could of and should of been better. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/17/22 Full Review Audience Member Style overload and a self inducing migraine of a story and direction, I think an interesting idea got very lost in ego Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/18/20 Full Review Audience Member LET THE CORPSES TAN is stylistic, very much in the vein of 70s action. It has abrupt plot changes. Sometimes it's like the audience in suffering the heat of the desert, sometimes it's like watching an art film. It's not that weird. I had no problem tracking who's who and what's going on. That's a smoother ride than some. It's mostly the arthouse style and shoestring budget that gives it its flavor. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Worth watching if you like weird surrealistic images or weird looking french people...but minimal plot, froggy weirdness, and wonky pacing wont make it easy Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
