Noel Murray Los Angeles Times There's a subtly meaningful power to what the film actually does: witnessing the awkwardness that ensues when the creatively free try to communicate with people who lack the context to understand unfettered expression. Oct 26, 2017 Full Review Alan Scherstuhl Village Voice There's even too little of Laibach's music, which in this performance is, by necessity, somewhat restrained. Oct 18, 2017 Full Review Glenn Kenny New York Times [Its] withholding, intended to maintain Laibach's mystique, contravenes the ostensible documentary function of the movie. Oct 18, 2017 Full Review Vladan Petkovic Cineuropa An immensely engaging, smoothly edited (with clear music-video influences) and highly polished account of an event that became historical simply due to the fact that it took place. Sep 2, 2020 Full Review Eric Monder Film Journal International If you like weirdness for weirdness's sake, you will appreciate all these colorful, unlikely efforts to exhibit East meeting West. Oct 18, 2017 Full Review James Hennessy 4:3 Whatever labyrinthine justifications stand behind it, Liberation Day is the kind of film that might never be made again, so I can safely say that you'll never see anything quite like it. Audience Member Very explicit but very important message on the sex culture we are dealing with today. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member If you are going to see one film about a Slovenian rock band that travels to North Korea to perform a public concert this year, make it this one. We weren't sure what to expect when our podcast screened this film on the festival circuit. It's a very amusing movie for being in such a dire location.
